Once upon a time, in a uber farmhouse nestled at the edge of the woods, lived a sleek black cat named Poe. Poe was no ordinary cat—he had curious golden eyes that sparkled like candlelight and a heart full of wonder.
Every night, Poe curled up by the fireplace, listening to the wind whisper through the trees. But one night, as the clock struck midnight and the moon hung low and silver in the sky, Poe tiptoed past the sleeping humans and slipped out the creaky kitchen door.

The woods where alive with hush and shimmer. Owls blinked from branches, and the leaves rustled secrets. Poe padded softly along a mossy trail, his tail flicking with excitement.
Suddenly, a flash of red darted through the trees.

“Who’s there?” Poe meowed.
Out stepped a red fox with fur like autumn fire and eyes full of mischief.
“I’m Fern,” said the fox. “You’re just in time. Follow me.”
Poe followed Fern through winding paths and over babbling brooks until they reached a hidden hollow deep in the mountains. There, bathed in moonlight, was a pumpkin patch unlike any other.

The pumpkins were round and glowing, each with a face already carved—smiling, winking, even singing softly. Vines curled like ribbon, fireflies danced above them like tiny lanterns.
“They’re magical,” Fern whispered. “Each one holds a secret wish. But only those who find the patch at midnight can hear them.”
Poe wandered among the pumpkins, listening to their giggles and hums. One pumpkin blinked at him and whispered, “Wish for something brave.”
So Poe did. He wished to always be brave enough to explore the unknown.
The pumpkin glowed brighter, then gently closed its eyes.

As dawn tiptoed across the sky, Fern nudged Poe. “Time to go.”
Poe scampered back through the woods, heart full of magic, paws wet with dew. He slipped back into the farmhouse just as the rooster crowed, curling up in his favorite spot by the fire.
No one knew where Poe had been, but if you looked closely, you might see a tiny pumpkin seed tucked behind his ear.
And every now and then, when the moon wa just right, Poe would sneak out again…just in case the pumpkins were waiting.
